The demand for debt advice in the UK is soaring beyond manageable levels. In the year leading up to July 2009, the Government’s free debt advice service witnessed an increase of 28% in demand for its services. Unfortunately, it was unable to meet that demand, with a quarter of its agencies turning people away or financially struggling consumers waiting over a month for a session with a debt advisor.

Beginning this year, Individual Voluntary Arrangements in the United Kingdom will be subject to stricter regulations. The UK Insolvency Service has introduced a new code of conduct that they hope will help UK residents with debt problems, better decide their options.
